vocal distortion plugins?

what do you guys use for vocal distortion? whenever i add a generic distortion plug it sounds so harsh and fake

whatever they did on the august burns red cd sounds really good, thats kind of the effect im going for.

I love izotope's trash. I use it pretty much exclusively. The only time I don't is when I'm feeling experimental and I reamp vocals through amps.

I also use Izotope's Vinyl, can add some interesting effects (scratches, dust, old record effect). Plus, it's free...

I like Amplitube on vocals... you can get a nice warm distorted tone on it...

+1 This plug-in kicks serious ass. All kinds of vocal distortion.. and you can filter the signal coming in and going out, so its tweakable to all hell and back.

I use Voxengo Voxformer for most of my vocals; even distorted ones. GREAT vocal channel strip; with 2 band compression, good EQ, de-esser, two distortion algorithms etc etc. Highly recommended.
