Vocal Effects!?!?

So, everyone seems to be using Cubase.

Anyone using Reaper and can give some tits? (whoop,s i mean tips).

Ive never used any effects on my vocals so far, one thing i did is to record the vocals 2 times and merge them. Then u dont have to use the echo effect, but if you copy the vocals perfectly it will sounds like shit.

Have you tried to use vocal effects singing live? Do you think metal bands like Bloodbath, Behemoth use it? what effetcs gives more power for singers?
