Vortex Appreciation Thread

his vocal melodies on in sorte diaboli were fucking horrid...as if that album couldn't get bad enough (besides hellhammer's drumming.)

great singer in general all the same though.

 I thought it was a great album. Not their best but a lot better than DCA. Besides his singing on ISD was very reminiscent of his work with Borknagar, even if he only sang for like 20 seconds on each of the 3 tracks.

Actually yeah I have. A lot of them are just not my style so I guess it's not fair to judge them but the ones I did sort of like I didn't find to be that great so I dunno, it's just my opinion though.

gonna have to say mdf's lineup is pretty fucking stacked iyam.

Not my style of music, I don't find it appealing at all. But for DM fans I bet it's awesome. I hope HeavyMTL festival announces some awesome bands this year!

Any lineup featuring Destroyer 666 isn't laughable.

Never heard anything by them. You did get me into Primordial so... what are ye recommendations?

Glancing over the MDF line-up... I see pleeenty of win there!

About Vortex: Yeah, he ain't the worst singer, definitely. What he does in Dimmu doesn't do anything for me, though... his singing kinda makes this übercheesy pompous band even worse IMO. The effects and autotune overkill on many of the tracks you're hearing him on doesn't make it better...

But he's also (or has) been involved with some outstandingly good bands... but there again, some of these bands have put out better albums with a certain other singer IMHO. ;)

So yeah, he's a good singer, I am just not that big of a fan and I think vocally he just doesn't hold a candle to guys like - let's say - Wally or Devon Graves or Devin Townsend or James Rivera or Ripper Owens or Russel Allen etc.

i sent these arcturus bootlegs to john about a week ago, but i know you'd appreciate it too joe
