vst/vsti epic fail thread

I have to say Antress... The plugs are pretty good sounding for the price (freeware :goggly:) but every time I use one of them my CPU goes from zero to through the roof and back... Weird CPU spikes everywhere -.-

The only VST/VSTI that have had some regrets about purchasing (especially since you get it for free now with Sonar 8.5 Producer) is Dimension Pro from Cakewalk. I bought the full package back in the days when I was using the Sonar Home version which only contained the Dimension LE plugin, I bought the upgrade to Dimension hoping to use it for Bass guitar sounds (as well as other general orchestration), only to find that it has many patches that are out of tune. Cakewalk has known for years about these patches and has done nothing to fix them - they have released update after update, several expansion packs, and yet, they still have these out of tune patches (several in the bass category).

Don't get me wrong - I still use Dimension quite a bit so it's a bit of a minor gripe, but it still bothers me that they have not fixed this despite being aware of it for so long. How hard is it to fix or replace these patches? Really?

Other than that I have been very careful about testing out what I plan to purchase via demo or trial versions and have been pretty happy with the plugins I have.

+1. Hate them for that reason. Completely unusable.

Someone said that the newer releases are much more stable, but they were such a headache before for me that I don't even want to give them a shot.

I wonder why they keep coming up with new offers like every week. They're probably planning to get heaps of money from the next Play update, like a Play2 with MANY NEW GREAT FEATURES like not crashing every fucking day

Hahaha! I'm not giving that company another cent, I'll be getting VSL for my orchestra needs...
