Hey, just wondering how big SymX is across the ocean. In Connecticut, they are not well known of, although I have voiced many complaints to radio stations for not playing them. Any other advice/ways to spread the word of Symphony X to the ppl?

yeah i sit in chat sometimes playing them over the vc when im bored..lol, and i talk about them as much as possible and recommend them to people.. actually i recommended someone to d/l tdwot and ttlg last night..she actually really liked them, which is a change from most other people (who have no ear for talent and no taste) who cant seem to stand them (my own bf included)..and i have a whole section dedicated to them on my homepage www.geocities.com/thesilentrealm (just a first attempt site without real purpose or reason designed to practise my learning of html and flash5)..
radio stations only play what the advertisers tell them to play, i know someone who works in radio, the stations themselves dont have alot of say if they want to keep recieving money from advertisers. this is what he tells me anyway.

Hi there...
SymphonyX are not that popular in Germany, although a lot of peole are listening to other prog metal bands like Stratovarious or Dream Theater. Well, I`m always trying to improve the situation :)
But I think there is just too little information about SymphonyX in German metal magazines and stuff...

SX is very popular in France , they just opened for Stratovarius in a 5000 seats place ( i forgot the word :] ) . The year before they played in a 1500 one so you see ;)

Omfg , Germany is the luckiest country . I've a got a Devin Townsend shirt and on the back there is the tour dates : 1 for France and around 10 for Germany !
It's the same for Dream Theater ( i saw that in the pictures DvD)
But in Germany I guess there are two words : Blind Guardian :Spin:

Australia = SHITHOLE!!! It totally sucks here. there are like 2 good shops. metal mayhem (one of the best in the world) and JB hifi.

JB HIFI does metal shreddles?? i had no idea..should check em out next then.

But yeah at least SymX tours Europe, fat chance ever gettin em out here :(..It's amazing how big metal is in the Middle East though, you just wouldnt expect that..

Yeah Silent, JB is by far the best metal shop in the Gold Coast but nothing compared to Metal Mayhem.

I went to the shop in Brighton In Melbourne and it was even better than the one here in QLD but the one in the heart of the city is even better. Again, nothing compared to Metal Mayhem. Just go in the Cd section and go under "Metal" simple!:Spin:

Dunno about Sydney thou, but i suspect it would be even better.

AS good as MM are though, i didnt find Star One with them..maybe i didnt look hard enough..(and i tried placing an online order to test it out and they never got back to me and its been several days..so how good they really are im still having my reservations)..this has gone so off topic but i have a habit of doing that..(bloody Aussies lol)

I only know one other Symphony X fan, and I introduced them to him. I have a couple of other friends who know about them through me, but think that they're uber-cheesy (then again, this is a guy who listens to Van Halen!)

So everyone who doesn't like Symphony X has no taste and no ear for talent? That's a bit harsh isn't it!

You had better be a fan of John McLaughlin, now that's talent.

Umm actually I'm not being serious. I know everyone has different tastes in music and the same could be said about mine (no taste or ear for talent)..
But I love SyX so much I just can't fathom how someone else can't like them at least somewhat..My bf and i just don't see eye to eye at all in the music field (he likes all the old old stuff, 70's rock to 50's motown) and calls SyX my "New Jersey Dragon Slaying, Long-Haired Speed Metal Freaks" (who i better not ever leave him for lol)

Quite a bit of Metalheads down here in Bulgaria. I am on the holy mission of converting people from DT to Ajren's works and SymX. :)

DT had a show here (last year) and the hall was crowded.
I guess the same would happen with SX.

Sym X are big in Turkey apparently. A friend of mine who is a leading Muso in Turkey is a huge fan and they're well liked in that part of the world.

Is prog metal big anywhere is the question.

Here in England we have a great band like Threshold but nobody has heard of them. Everybody is too busy being spoon feed corporate bullshit music, fashion = money therefore we have no place for a load of long haired free-thinkers, god forbid people actually expand their intellectual and musical horizons, Kylies hotpants are all that matters!

I really would like know how Stratovarius good the prog metal tag, they are good power metal with keyboards and shitty lyrics, however the drums are fucking brilliant.

I think that most people on this board don't really know the difference between power metal and progressive metal.
