Wait...what? MaxxBass on masterbus?

Perhaps he likes it on his master when mixing elements together, sometimes having a plugin on the master bus when mixing can help. Especially if you are very familiar with it. I doubt this is why but for example sake maybe he is using maxx bass for a visual and to push the limits. It might help him set the proper low end information and then back it off. Or the latter he actually put the plugin on the bus because it sounded good. or maybe he's just trying to throw us all off?

wouldn't it just add harmonics to tracks that don't need it? How would you use maxxbass on the master?

it still effectively works as a frequency enhancer.

using maxxbass on a single channel (like bass or kick) will result in the enhancement of the selected harmonic for that fundamental frequency.

using maxxbass on a bus (with multiple instruments -that may not have been filtered passed 80hz) will still result in frequency enhancement.

like i said, it's done by a lot of engineers and there are tons of other applications for maxxbass. waves even makes a piece of "mastering hardware" (MAXX BCL) where you can employ maxxbass directly on the master, as well as a compressor and L1 limiter.

Thank's for the response Tim.

The MAXX BCL

Is an actual unit consisting of an analog input chain with transformers (thats why its heavy ) 2 analog gain switches and then there is an analog to digital converter and digital to analog converter - the unit can be worked also in digital domain only.

The main feature of the unit is the 3 " Boxes " The R- Compressor, MAXX Bass and L2 Limiter

all 3 units have only a few options of settings ( not like the plugs that can have more options).
The compressor and maxbass can be pre/ post changed by a touch of a button
its a very nice unit that has a very fat sound.

works good up to 96 khz 24 bit
