Wanna mix a great Bon Jovi style band. Files inside.

Cool song. Never worked with anything like this, and I certainly didn't do anything to modernize it, definitely tried to capture the Bon Jovi feel.

Kept everything pretty simple. The main L & R rhythm guitars I used the DI and ran them thru EZ Mix using a couple of the Misha presets. The other lead tracks are just used as provided. Everything else got various levels of compression and EQ. The bass has a touch of distortion added. Pretty much everything is bussed thru a reverb aux except the bass guitar. Drums have some parallel compression.

Please keep mixes in this thread.
The band gave me permission to upload this here but don't want any mixes on facebook or soundcloud or youtube etc. until the album is finished.
Please post what you used for guitars etc (provided amps or whatever) for educational purposes.

This Video is not PUBLIC ! :worship:

Guitars > Bugera 333 XL > clean crunch channel > AT 3035 & sm57
BASS > DI > Amplitube 1
Drums > SSD Trigger, and my custom snare sample.

Stay Metal !

great jobs here

I lke a lot Habsburgs one, it is powerfull and strong and the voice is the best here

and ofcourse sinquestsound, i think he has seen the style of the band better, the only thing that habsburgs is better in my opinion is in the voice treatment

and cheers for everybody

Used the amp tracks included on guitars.
chain is (if i remember this correctly) satson channel for first gainstaging-> waves req for some carving -> waves kmt -> cla3a -> satson channel again for gainstaging -> soundtracs topaz project 8 channels -> guitar bus -> master bus who goes back into protools with waves api2500, waves pultec eq with boost and cut on lows (60) and some top boost (10k)
bass is both di and amp mixed, both cla76 and hardware compressor
slate trigger with custom blends of cla kicks and snares for drums, ran through an art pro vla 2, then a heavily modded dbx 166 on the drum/bass buss
vocals are a good mix between plugins and hardware =)
only cuts are done with eq plugs, boosts are all on the channels on my desk (except for 2bus, got nothing to put there yet ><)

"mastering" is just some loudness and a tiny touch of eq in ms config

Greetings to all members!
I really like the song and tracking quality, thank you for the tracks.
So here's my touch to the mix, it still sounds quite rough and need a final touch (more musical automation etc)
I used original guitars tracks, it sounds really cool for my taste, Bass: only DI track thru Amplitube (bass amp track sounds a bit muddy and boomy), original snare and kick were blended with SS Trigger samples), also I add some tambourine and cowbell in the choruses for more "in stile" sound :kickass:
P.S. sorry for my english, guys :)

P.S. How to make dropbox link not only for download? Shame on me :(

I downloaded those tracks some time ago...
But finally i gave this a shot!
Please, rate my mix, I spent some time with those lovely tracks.

I used just the original tracks, no reamp etc.
Hardware EQ and COMP on this.
Thanks for sharing Mickrich!

great song! great vocalist!

my half-finished, best randy staub imitation i could come up with in about 2.5 hours: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13121955/war_v0.5.mp3
no toms yet, and no automation (really important in this song imho), no delays on vocals etc.
just the basic sound i had in my head when i heard the raw tracks.
the vocalist ist really good, but it sounds like you overdid it with the de-esser on the way in. on some S-sounds, i can really hear strong artifacts in the high end, that takes away from the performance, imho.

this was great fun so far, let me hear what you think :)
