Mars is brighter than it has been in thousands of years. Tonight. If it has already passed, tomorrow it will be excellent too.
Since I'm going to bed now, I'll add that it is visible to the Southwest of Connecticut (where I live) and it may not be red. Brightest thing in the sky. It may not be red, but looks like a very large/bright star.

I was watching the sky the night before and it was fairly bright. I should head outside soon...

i've seen it before during the summer. it's quite visible from my living room window, definitely bright and red. i suppose it's an interesting view with a telescope: as it is i can't get too emotional about the planet. after all it's close but we're not going there yet. ;)

"small" correction...

"Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years but it may be as long as 60,000 years."

:p I suppose I can find some time to look for it then :lol:

I just went outside with my telescope. And according to my telescope, Mars is an amazing speck of dot.

Watch the sky, for tonight, the stars REVOLT!
:lol: Couldn't resist, I happen to be listening to Powerman5k right now...which reminds me, does anyone know if the new album is worth getting?

@D_J
I have it, get on ICQ later ;)
And that song came to my mind as soon as I saw the
title of this thread too hahah

Well, it's sure now, I saw it last nite, it's definetly
coming towards us, who wants in on the suicide pact?
