Waves Vocal Rider and wave rider

Well well... Waves definitely make some great products, albeit quite pricey. I think everyone can agree on that. But indeed, a lot of people still buy them, just like you point out. What I think deserves to be said though is that a lot of studios probably feel like they "have to" have them to attract clients (especially the ones that have different producers coming in). It's a competition thing.

That's true of course, but surely the company can't be blamed for having a reputation like that :D

You could just NOT buy wavs plugins (that was not an insinuation to steal them). That's what I do.

That's what I do too, and I'm quite fine with it. Just like I'm fine driving a car that wasn't the most expensive in the store.

Actually, my car is crap but you get the idea.

A vocal rider wouldn't be too hard to program either (I think).
I'm a first year software engineering student and I can't wait to know a little more so I can start programming useful stuff :p Maybe more free alternatives to Waves plugins.

Ok so I demoed the vocal rider. Works really well. I was able to level the vocals for a project much faster than normal. It took a while for me to get used to how the plug in works as there are a couple weird things on it but IT WORKS! I use lots of waves plugins, The Studio Classics bundle is my go to plugins, I use the Rennesaince stuff a lot as well. While yes they do charge a lot per a plugin, I think its worth it. Also the customer service is superb! You really cant beat FREE TECHNICAL HELP line unlike DIGIDESIGN! ahha

just tried the wvaerider...sems to be awesome so far....just wish it had a "range" or "ratio" funktion....the riding wors great, but it can be too much sometimes...adjustable ratio would be awesome.
I might buy this one anyways (good price).
anyone compared it to te waves version yet?

So did people buy any of those? At the moment Waves Vocal Rider is $180 and Waverider is $49.
I have downloaded the Waves demo and really like it so far, very practical, so I might make the jump if I get some cash coming in soon (not sure how long their 40% off will last though and I won't pay more than that).
