We really need an Anything thread

I found that way funnier than I should have.

The actual...Bible part of the Metal Bible it's basically just the NLV version of the New Testament correct? Other than that it's basically just metal artist's testimonies, correct?
 
Correct. The purpose of putting it here is that Matt Smith is in it. He says very little. But whatever.
 
So... has anyone read any good books lately?

I'm on the second-to-last chapter of "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller, and then I'm going to start reading "Otomen" volume 13 (it's a manga for those familiar with the format), which I just picked up at Katsucon this past weekend.
 
Just finished the last written book in A song of fire and ice (Game of thrones). It is a fantastic series. Now I just have to wait another 5 years for the last books to be written.

Definitely a great series! Have you also been following the HBO adaptation?
 
I watched the first 2 seasons, then started reading the books in the story continuing from there. It really helps you visualize the characters so you're not "making them up" in your head. Each season corresponds to a book. IMHO the 3rd is the best book, so I'd say at least read that one.
 
So watch the 2 seasons and continue with the books or read the first 2 books after watching the corresponding episodes?
 
Either way...I am just lazy and havent bothered to go back and read the books I have watched the episodes to, if that makes any sense.
Though, I probably could read them and get a lot more details and things I didn't know about.
Whichever way you want to do it. I would just say watch some first, because it helps to put a face with a name. And there's tons of names.

If I could do it over again, I'd try to read a chapter, then watch the episode. That would be the full experience.
 
I didn't want to make a new thread for this so it's either here or the Offtopic thread:

What the hell is going on?!

I don't even know where to start, just look at the "vocalist", it's an expletive Bieber looking piece of expletive. The band plays some sort of modern butchery of metal which they call deathcore (I dislike deathcore as a genre altogether, but these guys raided the bakery) and wikipedia lists them as life core (cue laughter) and the lyrics are about a preteen relationship involving *gasp* sex.

I haven't laughed this hard in a long while, but at the same time I was repulsed by the general appearance of THIS as an expression of music.

What are your thoughts on similar bands? Honestly I wish this wasn't canon and the US is just playing a giant ruse on the rest of the world.

note: play close attention to the dancing, the faces and most importantly, the dress style of the vocalist, I can ignore the others, but that guy just makes me cringe.
