Weird Guitar Neck Setup Question. (With Picture)

HI people just wanted to ask if you have noticed any guitarist who have a kind of rubber band or is it tape around there neck? This rubber band or tape is located above the locking nut area. These are guitarists from Killswitch Engage. And i was thinking they would not use a damaged guitar of stage. Any answers thanks!

IT's a string retainer.. it pulls the strings at an angle to provide greater tension on the machinehead side of the nut to prevent the strings rattling loose in the MHs.

Pulls it tighter over the nut to keep tuning stability.



Anyway, that's my guess.
