Hey guys, the strangest thing has been happening to me in one of my pro tools sessions recently and no matter what i do it won't stop. For the record im running PT 7.3 on an Intel Macbook pro.

So i'm trying to mix a song but for some reason everytime it gets to the begining of the main vocal track there is a loud clip/pop sound and i loose all my audio. Some of the meters still move, others dont but nothing comes through the headphones or monitors. I have to close and reopen pt. I've tried dragging the vocals to a different track, disabling everything but the vocals, deleting and reimporting them and none of it works. I'm at a complete loss here guys and the band is totally on my ass for their mix so ill take any ideas you care to throw at me.

I've mixed more songs on this setup than i can remember with no issue so im pretty sure its not a simple noob issue i overlooked.

Fuck......Any ideas? haha

Thanks,
-Richard

Edit: Oh, and if it helps, there are other songs on the same session and i have managed to get through those just fine, its just this one particular spot in the session. It's like the comp just doesn't want to hear his voice anymore (which i can understand...it's pretty bad haha)

Can you play back if you start in the middle of the clip? Does the problem happen only if you play through the head of the clip?

If you can play the middle of the clip try adding a fade to the head, or trim it back to see if there's some sort of glitch in the wave.

Is this audio that you recorded? or did someone else track it? What's the original format/bit rate?

You've re-imported the clip, but have you tried rendering the clip with an audio suite plug? If you render the entire clip using the DC offset removal plug it wont effect the clip negatively, and if there's a problem with the original file it may not transfer over to the new file that is created by the render.

I've run into situations like this and it can be any number of things.. most likely corruption of the file, so keep picking away at it and see what you can save, and what needs to go.

Good luck!
