My machine is currently being re-imaged. Sitting here at the wife's computer while my laptop is in the office getting fixed...

Damn, this spyware somehow made it's way into my registry or BIOS or something, because nothing was getting rid of it. Ended up getting icons thrown on to my destop, pop ups, new search tool bars, a new homepage, etc.

Fuck it, when it comes back, I'm going Firefox.

Mother fuck spyware. Whoever invented that shit shouldn't be. Glad I don't have to worry about it. :p

The worst part was, I could run Ad-Aware and it would kill all the 'bugs'. And then I would run it again INSTANTLY and it would find more bugs on the second go round. I'd also have to disconnect my ethernet cable because pop ups were occuring whilst Ad-aware was running, infecting while it was disinfecting.

This is hacking. Hacking is gay.

Stop looking at porn!

Yeah, I use Spybot and AdAware, plus Spyware Blaster, and i still get stuff on my computer. Nothing like what you described has happened to me...yet, but it has happened to a co-worker.

Use HijackThis ... often times with spyware you'll need to delete it... then restart the computer in safe mode... delete it again... and reboot again regularly

By the way, can I download and install Firefox and have it exist on my desktop alongside Internet Explorer? Will one application conflict with the other - knowing Microsoft, I would imagine that they might do such a thing...

Yeah and make sure to keep IE so you can still download Windows security patches 14 times a week. I have Mozilla, Firefox, and IE, no conflicts.

Well, I still need IE to be my default browser since it's a work laptop. I have all these company Intranet settings that I need to keep in IE, and then I'll want to use Firefox for regular web browsing through my cable modem without going through my company firewall/proxy server.

Does that sound feasible?

Goddamn spyware. What new anti-spyware shit has been invented? What's a good, free firewall that I can download?

Win XP firewall + Firefox + AVG anti-virus = worry free porn browsing

The only time I use IE is for Windows updates, at work I've been using Firefox for several months now with no problems. Oh, except Java won't install, oh darn.

Yeah, you see my company has a customized IE browser installed on our laptops so I'm stuck with it for work stuff.

Firefox gives me free reign though, even though I still go through their proxy. I'm amazed that "ultimatemetal.com" isn't appearing at the top of every proxy report. I mean, I don't even think I close the session whether I'm posting or not. :loco:

Does UM have stock options? Oy MetalAges, get to it you fat bastard.

am I the only one that is on the net ALL DAY (as it's my business to be) and never have problems with bugs and errors.
Norton's Corporate Edition + Zone Alarm + Ad-Aware ... and no problems.
I even go to porn sites, but only a select few.

What the fuck do you guys do on the net?
