I've been listening to Dokken's Beast From The East all day today at work. Having not heard this album in probably a year at least I was inspired to ask the rest of you what some of your favorite live albums are? This is a solid album, sounds pretty much like the band sounded like at the time I saw them on The Monsters Of Rock Tour...

Beast from the East was a really good live disc.

To name a few of my favorites:

Stryper - 7 Weeks in America

are you serious? ozzy's vocals on reunion are horrible and his stage banter is almost comical at times but its not on purpose

Everyone already listed all the good ones :)

I generally don't like live albums as much as studio, but one of my favorites isn't actually an album (take with the grain of salt that Savatage is my favorite band). It's a recording of a small Savatage acoustic set in Port Richmond, NY. Both Jon Oliva and Zak Stevens were in the band, and they do some very cool acoustic versions of their top songs.

Steve in Philly

Oooh, that sounds tasty! I suppose the sound quality isn't up to par though, since it's not an official release and probably wasn't mixed professionally.

I'm with Steve in Philly, though. I never really got into live albums (I'm too picky about production) until recently when I've become addicted to DVD concerts. The sound is mixed better on newer live recordings, and having the visual there with the audio puts the frosting on the cake for me. If someone posts a thread on favorite DVD concerts, I'll play then.

His banters and cursing are pathetic I admit that but the energy of the album, the playing of Tony, Geezer and Bill, the crowd and the fact of finally having a decent album from Mk.I (because "Live At Last" it's pretty lame and poor produced) make it for me, even if they butchered 'Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath' last verse which to me is a criminal offense.

So you can see I'm having a great leniency on that album to include it on my list, still I believe it was the good way to kiss BS with Ozzy goodbye. Now let Heaven & Hell continue :headbang:

i agree. dio always sang better than ozzy and even at 65 or whatever he sounds better than ozzy. dio has a better stage presense and knows all the words. yeah live at last sounds horrid although i did hear that reunion has some studio overdubs by ozzy and bill but i don't know if thats true

Iron Maiden - live after death.

Would you guys consider this their Alive!
By that I mean a band in the pennacle of their career...
but using studio trickery...
I can't bare to listen to Alive! and Alive II and Live After Death for that reason... They are so phony... The audience is loud. I can say the same for W.A.S.P.'s Live In The Studio... I mean Raw! And for the record they are albums that I used to love. Granted Alive III isn't much better but I just think that line-up was the shit...
