What about Bodom

imo, CoB is better than Evergrey. I knew Bodom would get bashed down on an Evergrey forum because of the fact that they are the opener, which usually means the band is worse. This may not be the case, but CoB is more renowned and since they have more fans, they got the 2nd position. I am looking more forward to Bodom;s set than Evergrey's, but hey, thats just my opinion.

To all of the Bodom haters, just clear off the floor and go down a few beers while we enjoy Bodom and come back for IE. I dont care, more room for me :)

I have seen all three bands before and I must say they are all three great live bands (IE with Barlow). Bodom are by far the most skilled of the three, although many hate them due to the vocals. They are amazing playing all this stuff live. Evergrey are great too, although I was not too impressed the last time I saw them (I guess excitement level was low since I have seen them three times already). I don't care about Iced Earth with Ripper (and specially since they play mainly songs from new album which sucks in my opinion). Still, this is a great tour.

whoa now... they played just as many oldies as they did new ones last night

Yea, imo, i think the playlist is pretty good. I know a lot of people are bitchin because not a lot of songs from Burnt Offerings are on their, but its better than what i expected. At least they are playing SWTWC trilogy, and a whole bunch of other good songs like Angels Holocaust.

I think trying to compare skill levels between each band is comparing apples to oranges. How would we compare the vocals of the bands... you have three completely different vocal styles... can't compare them. Guitars, all completely different. keyboards, insanely different. We are just lucky to have all three together.

EternalMetal, what songs would you recommend to listen to by Bodom. My friend is a big Bodom fan so I hear them when he is around. If you could recommend two or three songs that an Evergrey/IE/Pagan'sMind fan would like most what songs would that be? Thanks.

true, it is kinda hard, but im not saying Bodom is better, im saying i think they are better. Havent given Evergrey a lot of time in the cd player, but from what i listen to them i really like it.

Im gonna compare all 3 of them in a view of my opinion. I like The Ripper the best out of the 3 singers, i like Alexi the best out of the guitarists(damn thats a hard one:)(seriously)), Janne out of the keyboards, another close one, but i love the style of Richard on the drums. Those are just my tastes of music. They are hard to compare, but i enjoy CoB's music a little more than Evergrey's, but i gotta say that its close. Im kinda surprised at the amount of just Evergrey fans (not really liking CoB or IE) on the tour since they are the opener and play the shortest set. When we got the tickets, i didnt even know Evergrey was going to play, they were just an added bonus :)

i would say
Every Time I Die (would probably guess this song)
Downfall (these two are just)
Kissing the Shadows (some of my favorites)
You're Better Off Dead (or this one)

It would be really interesting if you did a mix of the three bands into one! That would be some crazy sounding mix. Think of the possibilities, Alexi and Shaeffer on guitars, Englund and Ripper doing a duet... lol :) Definitely respect your opinion and its cool that you are digging Evergrey as well.

Its all great stuff. I dont think their will be one minute of bad music in this entire show. I probably would want an equal set from all of the bands, but probably IE a little longer since it is their tour :)

btw, Evergrey - where are you seeing the concert?

Chicago this Tuesday, Milwaukee (Friday), possibly more, we'll see. I'm a huge Evergrey and IE fan and like Bodom (just haven't heard enough of their stuff yet). Basically this is almost the perfect ideal concert for me and it is so close so I'm hittin it as much as I can. Are you making either of those?

Friggen whiners. I will be hanging out for the whole fucking show because it's simply one of the best metal tour packages that have come across in many years, be happy you get something like this.

I got backstage passes for the show in SF and am supposed to be hooking up with Capt Fastbeer and the boys for some serious scandinavian drinking games, we shall see how it goes, I am glad I took a 4 day weekend that week :headbang:

You need backstage passes to hang out with the guys? Gosh, they usually just head for the venue bar and gab with anyone who comes up to them. ;)
