When I think of my favorite albums, I've listened to them so much that it's generally pretty easy to think of parts that I'd rather were different, which I guess means they aren't 10/10 material. To me, a 10/10 implies not just music one finds highly enjoyable, but a conceptual clarity and consistency to unify it all. I therefore don't know if the idea of only a "flawless" album warranting a 10/10 score is the best idea; I think, for example, that Deathspell Omega's Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice is flawless (they clearly set out to achieve a certain goal, did so masterfully and it's a very enjoyable album), but I don't think Burzum's Hvis Lyset Tar Oss is quite so masterfully and consistently pulled off. However, I'd still call HLTO a better album than SMRC; HLTO may have more flaws than SMRC, but overall, I think the music is better.
I guess the problem here (other than me being a pedantic asshole) is that a quantitative rating system is fundamentally flawed when applied to art. It gets more ridiculous the greater the degree of accuracyyou use, also. "Well, Christina Aguilera's Stripped may be a good album, but I enjoy Immolation's Close to a World Below precisely 3% more". It's a ridiculous way of rating music that is so devoid of meaning or usefulness that it'd probably be better if we'd just stop thinking in terms of it.
ANYWAY, given that this thread has filled me with a desire to list shit, here are the albums that I would consider "flawless" (which bear in mind excludes some of my most favorite albums):
Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Gorguts - Obscura
Saturday Looks Good to Me - All Your Summer Songs
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Burial - Burial
Maybes (need further listening to really decide because it's not something I think about that often)
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
Autechre - Chiastic Slide
Agalloch - The Mantle
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
The Beatles - Revolver
Interesting point; many of these albums, after listening to them, give me a strong sense of (excuse the ridiculous Nix-ism) being taken on a journey by the music; in fact, I'd say almost all of them feel like concept albums, even if they aren't in reality. Perhaps it's this effect which leads me to them calling them flawless. For example, I know there's some songs on the DSO particularly that, out of context, perhaps aren't consistent with the high quality of the rest of the album. However, the conceptual weight of the work as a whole seems to mask this to the point where they become not flaws but integral and essential elements of the work in their own right.
