Your personal top 10 album list of all time.

Closer is the shit. Plus that video is so goddamn rad. The song right after it on the album (Ruiner) might be my favorite, though. The Becoming is pretty nasty, too. The whole album, front to back, is just so good.

What I love about NIN is that the albums are thematic. They're made to be listened to in order. On its own, Closer sounds like a song about a dude wanting to fuck a girl. In context of the album, its his self-loathing at his carnal desires. Makes a big difference.

Black Sabbath- Paranoid
Van Halen- II
Possessed- Seven Churches
Death- Spiritual Healing
Vader- Impressions in Blood
Malevolent Creation- The Will to Kill
Judas Priest- Screaming for Vengeance
Slayer- Reign in Blood
Nailbomb- Pointblank
Crowbar- Odd Fellows Rest

So many albums...was tough to choose. Kreator missed the list, Entombed, old Sepultura, old Metallica, Candlemass, Cathedral, Morbid Angel, Motorhead, old Scorpions, old Iron Maiden, Goatwhore, Eyehategod, Down, Grip inc., Grave, Obituary, Suffocation, Megadeth, Testament, Marduk.

Acid Bath - Paegan Terrorism Tactics
Godflesh - Streetcleaner
Kyuss - Blues for the Red Sun
Phlebotomized - Immense, Intense, Suspense
Black Sabbath - Vol. 4
Death - Spiritual Healing
Death - Leprosy
Eyehategod - Dopesick
Solitude Aeturnus - Beyond The Crimson Horizon
Morta Skuld - Through The Eyes Of Death
Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb

Opeth-My Arms Your Hearse
Yes-Tales From Topographic Oceans
Rush-Permanent Waves
Genesis-Wind And Wuthering
Emporer-Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Dead Can Dance-Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
The Gathering-Mandylion
Insomnium-Since The Day It All Came Down
Megadeth-Peace Sells But Who's Buying
Tiamat-Wildhoney
With 1600 cds in my collection....it's difficult; practically impossible.I just picked my faves from some of my top bands. Opeth, Yes, King Crimson, Insomnium alone have so many (to me, mind you)flawless albums. It's cool to see some gems in others lists.

Drudkh - Eternal Turn of the Wheel (yes, I realize this JUST came out but it's SUCH a great album and easily a contender for favorite)

What do you like about it so much? I don't see why I should prefer it to Autumn Aurora or Blood In Our Wells..?

I'm just going to take a crack at it...

Album of the Year- Faith No More
Salvation- Funeral Mist
World Funeral- Marduk
Dirt- Alice in Chains
A Dead Poem- Rotting Christ
Sanctus Diavolos- Rotting Christ
Seasons In the Abyss- Slayer
Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone- Akercocke
Solarflesh- Hate

There are more that should be up here, but only ten could be chosen...

OK, I'm old, so bear with me while I go back to the 70's and 80's!

In no particular order:

Seventh Son
Rust in Peace
Rising
Perfect Man
Ride the Lightning
Streets (just beats Mountain King)
Fly to the Rainbow
Rage For Order
Restless and Wild
South of Heaven
Blizzard of Ozz

Rage For Order....best Queensryche album. Geoff Tates' best vocal performance....so intense. The album has such a schizophrenic atmosphere.

Emporer-Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Dead Can Dance-Within the Realm of a Dying Sun

Yeah, I'm curious as well.
