Are brand new Fender Twin Reverbs and Roland JC120s still good buys? I always see people online saying that older versions of both had more headroom and were cleaner. Is there any truth to this or do they still get the job done for really nice cleans at pretty good volumes?
I've played new Twin and Deluxe Reverbs that I thought sounded great.
Guitar players love to talk about how much better old gear is, but the truth is that it's hard enough even finding two old Twin Reverbs that even sound like each other, so it's pretty useless comparing them to brand new amps. It's best just to try the amp out, whether it's new or old. If it sounds good, it sounds good.
