What do people think about Zyklon?

I like their tone and production (it reminds me of IXE's), but that's about it.

I'll stick with Emperor for songwriting ability.

I enjoy them every once in a while. Comparing them to Emperor is unfair methinks. Within their respective genres Emperor is more highly regarded but they are too different to compare 1 on 1. Drumming to their stuff is a challenge in speed and endurance as well as good stress relief.

anything that resembles behemoth is good in my book :kickass:

or is it behemoth that is resembeling them?
Zyklon ain't got shit on Behemoth, which is a very original and influential band. Nergal's songwriting and playing pwns anything that Samoth has ever come up with. (Even in Emperor, because all the good stuff was written by Ihsahn.) Behemoth's Inferno - now there's a kickass well-rounded drummer who's been able to write some of the most original drum lines and yet keep it brutal as fuck. Trym is just basically a "human drum machine" imo - though he can go reeeeeeeally fast, he is pretty fucking stiff and obviously overinfluenced by Pete Sandoval (who, by the way, pwns his ass).

^But it wasnt all true. The song writing in Behemoth is average, and Zyklon's song writing just mediocre. Samoth helped write almost every song in Emperor, so you cant say that Isahn wrote all of it. I like Behemoth, but they are not great song writers. I find almost no originality in the drum patterns (even though I like it), and it sound like to me that the Behemoth drummer could be in almost every other extreme band.

In my opinion.

Saw them live - crap. Enslaved blew them off the stage, and I don't particularly like Enslaved.

Yeah, I saw Behemoth and Enslaved, but they both sucked.

I loved WOW, enjoyed Aeon, and don't like the new one.

If trend continues I'll hate the next one.

They need a new vocalist and should put more black metal back into their sound. If they do that I think they'll sound phenomenal.
