What do you guys think of the new Symphony X album?

They have more or less thrown away their cheezy prog song, gotten rid of those ballads and sounds a lot more like Nevermore than Dream Theater. I love this change, and I love their new album, but I guess a lot of their old fans hate their direction?

I thought that the title track was really good which made me check out it in its entirety, but it is really samey. For what it is (ballsy chug-laden prog/power) it's pretty decent, but it gets boring. Certainly does not need to be 90+ minutes long.

Not that it's a bad thing, I actually think it's better than Paradise Loat.

I liked PL a lot, but I think my favorite album is V:The New Mythological Suite...damn I haven't spinned that one in ages
