So, we're all brought here by a mutual love of metal and metal production, but aside from that, I wanna hear more details on the OTHER stuff sneapsters have been digging recently.

I love that we all know each other by our real names, but we don't know each others music taste quite as deeply yet.

So let's try and shed some light on it.

Recently I have been digging DJ Shadow - The Private Press, Any and all of Ennio Morricone's soundtracks, Aesop Rock - Float and Labor Days (I'd recommend Labor Days to anyone who thinks "apocalyptic hip-hop" sounds interesting,) been listening to Kayo Dot - Choirs Of The Eye a lot recently, and it's utterly orgasmic, as well as some local punk and screamo stuff.

a shitload of pop goes punk 2 for me right now, and a day to remember, and four year strong, i also love alot of rap, and indie

Jimmy Eat World is easily in my top five favorite bands, probably top three. Also Anberlin and 30 Seconds to Mars are pretty high up on my list.

I think, ROCK is the word for me. I´m a great Beatles fan, I die for Pink Floyd...it´s difficult to categorize, so I call it just rock..or progressive rock. I also like Filmscores a la Hans Zimmer (especially Gladiator is awesome). Classical music is awesome, too. But no happy major harmonics a la Mozart for me, please :) I love the music written by Edward Grieg, Johann Sebastian Bach and Händel. I love this:

Pop and hardrock. Give me the new Nickleback cd and I will stoked for days.

Also ditto on Jimmy Eat World being in my top 5

I listen to a lot of fusion. Al Di Meola - Casino, Larry Carlton - Collection and Dave Weckl - Master Plan to name a few albums that have been on heavy rotation lately. A great source of inspiration also!

Besides Metal, mainly Hardcore, Punk Rock (Rise Against, Ignite, etc), whatever 311 are considered, and also stuff like Portishead, Beth Gibons and Emiliana Torrini.

I don't know if Dying Fetus, Visceral Bleeding, etc go into Metal or Grindcore, but anyway, I listen to those as well.

fusion, jazz/rock fusion, jazz, Jazz-funk, jazz-blues, film scores, rock, hard rock, post-rock, blues-rock, post-metal, acoustic guitar, classical, industrial, ambient, pop, pop-rock, sludge, stoner rock, progressive, some electronica.... i'm sure there's more

recent rotaton includes...

Siobhan Donaghy
Medeski, Martin, & Wood
Avi Bortnick
Ralph Towner
Red
Fields Of The Nephilim
Baroness
Mono
Seven Nautical Miles

.... and many more. pretty much any activity that doesn't require me to not do so, i am listening to music... such as driving, lawn work, jogging/excersize, showering, cleaning house/studio, waiting rooms... etc. as much as i love metal i have almost always listened to other genres.

however, i really can't stand most rap/hip-hop i've ever heard, and i loathe commercial country music.

I like to listen to a lot of moodier stuff, as the majority of my listening time is while I'm at work at my desk job. I love orchestral movie soundtracks - John Williams, OST from the Harry Potter films, Lord of the Rings, etc. I'm also a huge Nobuo Uematsu fan as well, his piano compositions are great.

I also like a lot of the more modern full libretto musicals like Les Miserables and Miss Saigon.

And I usually listen to King's X at least once a day :)

I dig a lot of MPB artists (brazilian music) such as Chico Buarque, oswaldo Montenegro, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Ivan Lins. I also dig some serious AOR, Hard Rock, Fusion, some Jazz, Classical (espcially baroque), italian music like (don't throw rocks) Bocelli, progressive rock is what I love most in my life, some stuff like Dire Straits, Elvis, Sinatra, Nat King Cole, some old country stuff...

70's PROG! that's what is all about: Early Genesis, King Crimson, The Soft Machines, Magma, Floyd, Yes, Univers Zero, Weidorje, Goblin and all that...

Modern and experimental stuff: Mr Bungle, SUNNO))), Guapo, Aethernor, Ulver...

Post rock/punk stuff: Slint, At The Drive in, Explosions in the Sky and that lot...

Modern Classical stuff: from Stravinsky to Michael Nyman Phillip Glass to Bartok to Jonathan bepler, to Brian Eno to Arvo Part to John Adams to John Zorn to John Cage the list is long...

Plus loads of necro black metal :headbang:
