what happened to punk?

There's still good punk out but it's really underground. Listen to stuff like The Casualties, The Unseen, Cheap Sex, The Virus, etc. Those are some good underground bands that still release records.
so what, have you all overlooked Blink 182? on a more serious note punk does suk and metal is everywhere. Isn't that all that really matters? it helps me sleep at night that's for sure. mmmm, sleep.
having said that there are actually a few decent underground punk bands, for example one of my high school teachers is in a band here in TN that is in Knife Fight and they did a show with Against Me who were OK i geuss, il'd never buy it but alot of my punk freinds dig 'em

Punk never clicked with me the same way hardcore did (in the non-metal category). But there are some good underground punk bands out there. Against Me! used to be a prime example, but, they're not quite underground anymore, which comes with signing to a major.

I like them both, not for the quality of the production, but for the feel.
If you get past the studpid powerchords and simple drum beats, punk has a kickass feel to it. I agree that punk musically sucks, but I still enjoy the kickass bands the Misfits and Dead Kennydies. It should never be about musical skill or production, it should be about what makes you feel good.
And what I mean by good is deep down good. Metal may make some people uncomfortable but deepdown they like the uncomfortable feeling. Do you see what I am saying?

It will never die because there are still a few people that listen to/create it, and those people are some of the best people to hang out with. In true punk there are no posers and if you talk to somebody that has listened to the music, you become friends. but i hate this fucking greenday pop punk shit that is getting called punk. It is in noway remnicent of true punk.
