What is wrong with Jon Schaffer

Is there a faster rhythm guitarist than ol' Jon?

Has anyone listened to "Heaven Denies" on the D&W debut for example? I don't think I've heard faster riffing.

the something wicked trillogy is seriously the best thing he did since the stormrider album. heaven denies is like half super-awesome, then it gets all slow and boring, which is a big problem with that D&W album.

I like pretty much everything Iced Earth has done.

What do you guys expect from the new album?

Yeah, Schaffer's riffing started out really incredible but got so fucking repetitive by Dark Saga - a damn shame, since he then had Matt Barlow's awesome vocals. Burnt Offerings > all other Iced Earth and a whole shitload of other stuff. I'd seriously rank it up there with Chemical Wedding in terms of heaviness and overall quality.

I absolutely ADORE early Iced Earth! Two of the albums that have gotten the most play time by me in the past year are definately "Days of Purgatory" and "Alive in Athens"! Sooooooo gooooood!

Not even in the same ballpark (and I like IE).
"Burnt Offerings"? I'd agree... However, I'll take the other Barlow discs over "Chemical Wedding". The fact of the matter is, Bruce just doesn't do much for me. Yeah, he's great and all, but, ehhhh... he's not in my Top 25 singers of all-time (which isn't a gauge of talent, just personal preference). Barlow on the other hand... I'd listen to him sing the phone book (or a Department of Defense training manual).

"Horror Show" is great. It was my first Iced Earth album, and actually one of my first metal albums. I've been wanting to listen to it lately, but I lent it to a friend awhile back and now he can't find it. :erk: I just need to make him give me the money for it so I can go out and buy a new one.
