What kind of metal is the world lacking?

I'm taking a guess here, but I'm guessing by southern metal he means something like Panopticon?

I'm really liking that USBM is finding it's own sound, which is what I thought was lacking in USBM. I realized this after seeing Cobalt and Lord Mantis, and other bands that are popping up (i.e. Panopticon) that have this infused Southern Black Metal/grungy/bluegrass kind of sound. It's different, interesting, and has an "American atmosphere" if that makes sense, as oppose to a cold Norwegian one that we're all so use to hearing.

Not saying that it does matter.

Just saying that it makes for a more interesting sound when bands fuse sounds they grew up listening to with extreme metal as oppose to just remaking the Norwegian sound. It's more of a critique on extreme metal (i guess this case more specifically BM) in general since few US bands make good (by this i mean memorable not just generically good) "Norwegian" BM, imo.

I'm not saying that you said it matters, and I get your point, I just don't know why this guy cares about bands being from a specific part of a country.
