Pretty much every song off Beyond Sanctorum and Thousand Swords should be on a "most epic" list.

My problem with it was mostly the inconsistent production. The vocals were often too high in the mix so I couldn't hear some of the riffs being played.

Loads but a few weeks ago I heard Primordial - The Coffin Ships and had my mind totally blown. Such a powerful and sorrowful song.

Agalloch "In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion"
Every time I hear this song it blows me away and I never get sick of it.
The mood that is created in this song cannot be duplicated.

Two types of songs will blow my mind: the overly depressing and the overly aggressive. Thank goodness metal typically has an abundance of both arrangements. Off the top of my head, here's my list:

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score
Therion - Siren of the Woods
Bloodbath - Eaten
Symphony X - The Odyssey
Virgin Black - Domine
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty Brought the Orchids
Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face
Orphaned Land - The Storm Still Rages Inside

...and like a million other songs...

Strange thing... I cannot list of mine here. Maybe I heard too many cool songs, maybe some emotions are already erased by time... Nevertheless:

Hypocrisy - "Roswell 47"
Hypocrisy - "The Abyss"
Kataklysm - "When Time Stands Still"
Summoning - "Dor Daedeloth"
Shape Of Despair - "Night's Dew"

I guess, this is the most of the most...

Bloodbath - Eaten

This. Amazing song.

Also
Nevermore- Born
Meshuggah- All of Catch 33, which is essentially only 1-2 really long songs.
Nile- Cast Down the Heretic (My first Death Metal experience)
Lamb of God- Laid to Rest (My first Metal experience, period... not counting Pantera... speaking of...)
Pantera- 5 Minutes Alone
Opeth- Bleak
Napalm Death- Sink Fast, Let Go
Benighted- Slut
Decapitated- Spheres of Madness
A Life Once Lost- Pain and Panic
Mayhem- Deathcrush
Despised Icon- Furtive Monologue... for that section where he pig squeals for like a minute.

Idk... tons more that I can't think of right now.
