What studio mice are you guys using?

I noticed that I am not so dependant on the mouse as long as it's wired, and not too small and not made by apple, and I'm usually cool with it, but I am so addicted to the mouse pad that I use, that I can't almost live without it because it tracks flawlessly on the 13 mouses I've used. With some mouse pads (especially ones with coloured patterns) the cursor suddenly jumps all over the place. I got it when I got my first computer with a mouse, so that would make it older than about half of you guys.

edit: looks like they are still on sale, it's the dark pink/purple one: http://www.puolenkuunpelit.com/kauppa/product_info.php?products_id=39498

Damn, you're really thinking this stuff out.
If you need more precision in editing, just zoom in more :p

But honestly my suggestion is, pick a "gamer" mouse with a lot of buttons, and make each of those buttons do something in your DAW. It could boost your workflow, and plus, you'd look like a boss.

I do zoom in, its Just that this Mouse is so different, anybody that uses my PC says 'Whats up with your mouse?' But its how the ARC mouse works, not recommended for Editing.
So i was just wondering whats the best. I mean accuracy on timeliness is important in editing, so there must be a 'Go To Mouse' out there for studio work, surely?

Well, the truth is accuracy is mostly measured in DPI - or dots per inch. however, crazy gaming mice have so much accuracy that it zooms by super fast - you need to turn it down actually.

Most Laser mice have around the same accuracy in DPI. So just get any laser mouse and you are good. (Do not get confused with "Optical", which relies on the red light). Laser mice work on more surfaces and tend to be more reliable.

I'm using a Logitech MX518 and I love it. Really sped up my workflow and I honestly feel a bit lost when I have to use something else.

Used USB Overdrive to setup shortcuts for different programs.
In Protools I've assigned the buttons for:
Smart tool
Zoom Tool
Switch between Edit & Mix Windows
Zoom Out to see the whole session

Adjustable resolution too, so if you're doing really precise edits you can slow the mouse down.

Only about £30 too.

I swear by and use only the Steel Series XAI

It's also my gaming mouse for starcraft 2. and I am platinum ranked on 1v1

laser is best. works on more surfaces than optical, and is more accurate. just make sure the area is clean, because a tiny hair or crumb can confuse the shit out of the laser.

Thx Joey :) your a life saver. I know you do mega editing and zooming, so I now know what mouse is reliable, sweet :) thx man.

P.S. I have a sneaky suspicion that Steel Series are gonna be getting a few more orders after your post :) haha. Thx again man, keep well.

I can vouch for this mousepad. The only reason I don't have it anymore is because the edges separated from the bottom material and started curling up, which is really annoying. That's my fault for picking at it while thinking though
