What the fuck

finally someone who agrees with me. Listen to the emperor albums "prometheus" or "IX Equillibrium" and its so blatant that dimmu are trying to be the new emperor.......well it is to me anyway and my mum thinks im cool

There's some vague similarities.....but I wouldn't venture to say that they sounded at all alike. Dimmu Borgir are wayyyy too blam blam thrash riffery to sound like Emperor.

Dimmu Borgir did that before Emperor did. Back when Emperor was typical raw black metal, Dimmu Borgir were pioneering symphonic black metal. If anyone ripped off anyone, it was Emperor ripping off Dimmu Borgir (early Dimmu is much better than early Emperor). Dimmu Borgir just all around beat the shit out of Emperor, who only had two great albums in In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk. Dimmu, on the other hand, had Stormblast, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, and Spiritual Black Dimensions which are all just as good if not better than the great Emperor albums. The rest of the Dimmu albums are just good, not great. The rest of the Emperor albums are shit, plain and simple.

Enslaved owns them both though.

In your humble opinion of course :p

Seriously, do you really think Stormblåst is better than In The Nightside Eclipse? And I beg to differ when concerning later Emperor. IX Equilibrium's brilliant. Prometheus is a bit strange, and can be a bit over-the-top - but shit? No.

The only similarity I see between Dimmu Borgir and Emperor is the downward spiral towards homosexuality they are both traveling. At least Emperor "retired" though.

IX Equilibrium is not brilliant. In fact, it is a very mediocre album that has very few fans compared to Emperor's other albums. It's dull, lifeless, uninspired, and just plain old tiring.

And Stormblast is about equal with In the Nightside Eclipse. Enthrone Darkness Triumphant is better than both though.
