Almost hate to say it...... But I'm kinda not caring anymore. Don't get me wrong. If John comes back I'd be happy as hell. If not, meh whatever.

Maybe they are waiting it out in order to "reinvent" the brand? Yes I meant brand not band. They might catch a younger audience that way. Dunno anymore.

It's weird. Back when Scott was explaining the reasons behind the reunion in 05, he said in a round about way that Anthrax couldn't have continued as they were in their (then) present state.
I still have never been able to understand that. Why was that? They'd made their best record in a decade, and seemed to have better support than during the S442 / V8 days. They came to Australia and said they couldn't believe how much support they got here. Europe was buzzing about the band too I thought. OK the USA market wasn't great I assume, but bands like Exodus / Testament / Kreator and tons of others (who I am sure Anthrax far outsells in terms of both record sales and concert tickets) all seem to get on with the job of playing killer shows and making records.
Is it just that Anthrax is greedy and wants to sell 200,000 copies of their next record and headline theaters worldwide again? What's the story?

Oh, DEFINITELY not. Metallica has been wicked famous for the past sixteen years; Anthrax had about eight years of fame before fading into obscurity. Some members might be rich (Scott most definitely), but the band as the whole? No.
The difference between Metallica and Anthrax is that Metallica is already famous, and Anthrax-at least and definitely the "core" members Scott and Charlie- are so swept up in this desire to be as famous as they were in the past that everyone else is suffering from it. If they just forgot all about fame, I think their music would gain from it and as a plus, they might write something incredible, something that I didn't see since Sound of White Noise.

There's a possibility that they had a clause in their contract that they cannot perform without at least 3 original or classic members of the band. Frankie left - they had an obligation to fulfill, so they replaced him for one tour. But if he wasn't coming back, a new record or any future touring would be impossible. That's just totally my guess - but I know Lynyrd Skynyrd has a similar rule (which threatened them when Leon Wilkenson passed away - making Gary Rossington and Billy Powell the only two of the classic lineup - but I think they get away with it because they can technically call Ricky Medlocke an original member since he played drums on their first demos).

Precisely. It was OK, I liked it alright, but it didn't do too much for me. Maybe I'm too picky. Oh well. Just my opinion. I still have respect for every album he sang on. I just, you know, don't like them as much. (Except for SOWN, that one was great.)
Edit: Alright, that was a little harsh. Listening again, I can safely say it was pretty dang good. 6.5 or 7 out of 10. I think I was in a weird snobby mood a couple days ago. Sorry!!
