Billy, I picked up a copy of the S.O.D. Speak Enlgish of Die Platinum Edition over the weekend. Just how much do you get paid from each copy sold? I know that the music business is whacky where artists don't make as much money as us fans think they make. Do you get an equal share as the two knuckles heads?!

Just out of curiosity, how many copies of Speak English or Die have been sold since it's release?

Geez!

1,000,000 copies x 27¢ = $ 270,000 divided by 4 = $67,500 divided by 22 years = $3,068 a year each...

Talk about the life of the rich and famous ;)

And that can't be adjusted? I mean you can't even buy a postage stamp for 27 cents anymore!!!!

Shit!!! This is business, its not Nancy Pelosi's socialist republic. Royalties don't get a cost of living adjustment.

Only way to get more money is if the royalties contract is renegotiated, right? Only way that ever happens is if it gets sold and the new owner wants to do something different with the medium, such as a "best of" track or some shit like that.

Ah, the life of a musician! Seems strange that the amount wouldn't have increased over the years...the album price certainly has.
That is what always pissed me off about the music biz... suits at a record label drive BMWs, have big houses while you bust your ass every night eating P&J in the back of a van for weeks on end.

Is the distribution end of the business that hard where a band couldn't do it themselves? I'm sure it is a lot of work, but is it really that imposable to do? My wife books tours for a few bands on the east coast, so I know that part isn't that hard, she also does quite a bit of promotional work so i know that can be done with out a label... cheap. I really don't know much about the distribution part... anyone know anything about it?
