So, what is it? I'm talking seriously proggy stuff here, mind-blowingly proggy.

Here would be my picks for most proggy:

Yes - Relayer
Genesis - Foxtrot
Echolyn - As the world
Gong - Expresso II (fusion instrumental)
Arcturus - La Mascarade Infernal

I'm looking for some new stuff to buy (preferably metal).

thanks

Satori

these ones come to mind:

Ayreon - Dream Sequencer
Ayreon - Flight of the Migrator
Explorers Club - Age of Impact
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera
Kamelot - The Fourth Legacy
Avalon - Eurasia
Tiamat - Judas Christ
Rhapsody - Power of the Dragon Flame

Well, I don't know what you already have, but here is a list:

Sigh- Imaginary Sonicscape
Arcturus and the Deception Circus- Disguised Masters
Agalloch- any
Edge of Sanity- Crimson
Enslaved- Monumension
Fleurety- any
Green Carnation-any
In the Woods- Omnio
Wolverine - The Window Purpose

some of these aren't progressive music per se, but can loosely be categorized as such

70's - Camel - 1st three recordings.

70's prog. recorded now - Nathan Mahl, "Clever Use of Shadows" - they wrote this like 30 years ago, but didn't record it until like a year or so ago... a lot of prog. sites gave it best of the year honors.

Live album prog. - Flower Kings, "Alive on Planet Earth" double cd... This is a fantastic live album... unbelievable energy and Roine Stolt's guitar solos are so full of emotion. Great for all people who play and love guitar.

Apocolyptic Prog. - Godspeed for you Black Emperor, not metal at all... but can fill you with dread more than anything I've ever heard, except possibly Univers Zero... not for those easily bored, though. Sometimes it takes awhile for this music to get going.

Death vocal prog. - maudlin of the Well, the 2 newest ones. Didn't know about them until today... but I download a bunch of songs... really amazing in my eyes. I ordered them today... enough said.

hmm.. tough to say...

Yes - Relayer
opeth - i dunno but they are doing SOMETHING proggy and cool on their albums, but you prolly own them all
Meshuggah - DEI (for it's time.. i mean come on no one really used time sigs like that, not even watchtower or athiest or any of that)
Dream Theater - Images & Words
Maudlin Of The Well - anything
Spastic Ink - Ink Complete
Ayreon - Into The Electric Castle

...ok so i don't quite no all that much hehehe but there's what i THINK i know.

Sinkadus-Cirkus

This album was one of my first delvings into Prog, and damn, it rules! It's got the oddest, most disjointed melodies I've ever heard, odd time signatures, and just overall proggy mellotronesqueness that blew me away. It's kind of slow, but gets really heavy (as heavy as you can get with Drums, flute, keyboards, clean electric, bass, and cello)!

Hmmm...as far as death metal is concerned I would have to say the following:

Atheist/Unquestionable Presence
Pestilence/Spheres
Atheist/Elements
Nocturnus/The Key
Cynic/Focus
Theory In Practice/The Third Eye Function
Death/Individual Thought Patterns
Death/Symbolic
Disincarnate

Some other ones to but I can't recall them at the moment.
