On the 2nd paragraph: all the HEART in the world won't help you if you don't have the BRAINS to use it properly ...

On the last sentence: a sentence like that kinda disqualifies any person from a thoughtful debate. Which in turn gives me second thoughts about the "thinking metalheads" statement in the first paragraph ... unless it's all ironic, of course!

I'll stick with my "heart" statement, because history backs me up on that one. Your "brains" comment is off-base, and there are a shitload of Mexican boxers that contradict that sentiment.

So you think that America isn't the greatest nation on this planet? That's laffable.

i think we should put a stop to this now before it does descend into
"america is the best fuck yeah! lets kick some ass"
versus
"you guys are arseholes etc etc"

i agree with smy1
lets stick to rawwwk... please

MK, that is the sort of arrogant additude that pisses off the rest of the world about Americans. Be respectful to other people's nations.

To clarify: I think America is a great country, filled with great people. It's a wonderful place to visit & I've made many friends from the states. Hell, it would probably be a great place to live. But it's not without it's problems, that's for sure. At this point in history, I'm thankful I'm Canadian.... ...well, except for the insane tax laws, anyway! ...Don't take that as a 'snipe' or disrespect to the U.S. It's not intended to be. It's how I feel about the political climate around the world currently.

As for North Korea... The Korean War never officially ended. It's currently on 'ceasefire." There's a massive buildup of troops on both sides of the DMZ. Two of my friends served on that border.... It's not one of those situations you like to think about often.
My only hope is that if it does come down to a war, that the politicians let the soldiers do thier job: Go in and fight. Not "police action" or "occupation force." Go in, take out the government, then get the fuck out of Dodge.

How is it arrogant to say that America is the greatest country on this planet? It's a fucking fact. I've LIVED all over the goddamned world (including Canada and the UK) and have plenty of respect for many nations, but the plain and simple truth is that America is the best. Don't believe me? Just ask the 20+ million illegal immigrants who risk life and limb just to get here. There isn't (and never has been) any country that offers the same kind of opportunities for quality of life. Sure, we have our problems - humans aren't perfect - but I don't have to worry about most of the bullshit that many people in other parts of the world go through on a daily basis. The whole world follows America's lead in nearly everything from science and technology to culture and trends. Why is that? Because we're not the greatest? Besides the fact that I've said nothing that is out of line, I have no problem whatsoever saying the things I'm saying, because my ancestors (and myself) have paid the admission fee with our own blood.

The problem with America is that there's people in it like you who think it's the best. I think a lot of what you're saying was true once. However, the US has stagnated, and allowed itself to become arrogant and stupid. Just look at our president, our education system compared to other countries, our horrible environmental track record, the lack of true separation of church and state, and our lack of innovation in technology (outside of Apple anyway.)

It's not about what country is "best," we need to stop thinking in terms of competing with other nations, and more in terms of working with them. North Korea has a lot in common with us - a stupid, crazy leader, and a lot of arrogance, combined with hostile military ambitions.

We're still a great country, but when I look at countries around the world who are kicking ass like Sweden and Japan, I can't think that we're "the best."

I think that all of you who aren't getting what I'm saying seriously need lessons in history and socio-economics, because you blatantly don't understand why the whole fucking world depends on the United States. It's not about the last 6 years - it's about the last 100 years, and the next 100 years. You all sound like a bunch of stupid little kids who live in your own little world and have no clue whatsoever to how shit works.

Comparing (even) Bush to KJI is beyond ignorant. Move your ass to North Korea and I'll guarantee you that you'll be very fucking sorry that you did so in about 30 seconds flat. I'm not even remotely a fan of Bush and his administration, but there are still plenty of people in this country who stand behind him on most issues. As an American, I respect their opinions - no matter how much I may agree or disagree with them. What makes your point of view right and their's wrong? That sets up a perfect example (just one of many) of why America is such a great country - WE ACTUALLY GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO ELECT NEW LEADERS SOON.

Being liberal or conservative is one thing, being liberal or conservative without knowing why is just plain dumb. I didn't say what I did out of braggadocio, I did it to defend an ignorant comment against the U.S. from some dude on the other side of the world.

I can support everything that I've said with facts. You can't make a plausible arguement against that - unless you have facts too.

C'mon, seriously folks, you'd rather live across the pond than here? Sure our political system is fucked and most of us have no creativity or desire for any mental growth whatsoever.

Still this is the best country to live in for the simple fact that you have the most opportunity, c'mon you all know it.
