New little loop. Nothing fancy on the writing....just wanted to get some input on the mixing. It's very similar to some of the riffs and stuff that have been on Joey produced records.

And I'm not an HTML expert......but I thought I knew how to place on object.....but I can never get the soundcloud player to show up correctly when I paste it into my thread. Can someone please tell me how to correct my lack of intelligence on this. hahaha

Drums seem too compressed

There is ZERO compression on the drums except for what is already in the samples. Only soft clipped on the drum buss. There's a transient designer too. But no compression.

There's a Fatso Jr on the master buss hitting 2db reduction on the GP + Buss comp setting. That's all the compression.

If what you're hearing is the "splat" of the drums then that's probably the transient designer changing the sound. It kinda sounds like when a DBX160 grabs the kick real hard. The only description I have is "splatty" hahaha

I personally like that splatty sound. It reminds me of CLA mixes. Especially the new The Used album. You can really hear it well on "This Fire" off of that album.

But everyone has a personal taste. I also like the kick on Miss May I - Monument. It has that nice low mid to it. And that's a completely different sound.

Hell..... I even like the drums on the first Dustin Kensrue cd.. Please Come Home. Those sound like an old Led Zeppelin kit. haha


But if I'm off about what you're hearing then please let me know. You might hear something Im missing.
