When the smoking ban kicks in next week clubs will be smoke free in WA, woo hoo! and yes they need to come back to WA
I forgot about that. I would do a woo hoo with you, but if the poeple of this state are anything like Californians, it won't be strictly enforced. I remember when California banned smoking in buildings in 1996, and most places with a heavy amount of customers who smoke just didn't enforce the law. Almost ten years later, many of the smaller bars still allow smoking.
There isn't a single small venue in Washington with an incentive to enforce the ban. Bigger establishments have serious cash to lose by getting caught not enforcing the ban, but smaller places will seriously lose out by enforcing it since most of their clientele, the concert-goers, are smokers.
I don't forsee sunny days just yet for us non-smokers, but hopefully Washington will separate itself from California on actually enforcing the law. Hopefully a strict enforcement of the anti-smoking law will lead to less pot smoking at shows, too. I have regular urinalyses at work, and I don't appreciate getting a contact high. I wish the pot-smokers would bake brownies and just scarf them at the concert instead of infecting the rest of us who prefer our lungs and blood to be clean.
Plus, think about Aja and Bruce Dickinson. Bruce has been on a tirade against people smoking in the front rows since he's returned to Maiden. He has a voice to protect, and I am sure Aja values her voice just as much.
