When panning do you automate it or create a new channel?

In the past I would create whole differetn channel just for one panning difference but recently I've been discovering a bit more about automation and what it can be used for. So was just wondering is it easier to automate or create a new channel for a different setting on the panning and also does automation save CPU?

haha, sorry, I didn't mean to be an ass. I just have a few MACs that are all very, very good. So, I never need to pay attention because even with a ton of plugins and virtual instruments I never even come close to half of my CPU limit.

Ah I was just joking anyway. There will come a day in the distant future when I'll have enough power to not have to bounce things down halfway through a mix, haha.

I usually make new tracks, but sometimes automate. Neither is right or wrong though. Just do what works best for your work flow really

Why not just pan the channel, itself, that you're talking about?

I'm confused by this thread.:erk:
