When the new Hammers of Misfortune album arrives

I don't think that Brocas Helm has been an influence on him. The same goes for Manilla Road, who have repeatedly been associated with Slough Feg. It is just a similar sound, but I guess the influences of these three bands are similar, but they have not influenced one another.
 
Eh. Well, its not a style I really enjoy. It seems more of a clash between the voice and the music. Its as if he recorded the vocals before knowing what the music would even be. If you like it, cool, but I think you can understand why a lot of people won't.

As a side note: I'm all about improvisation by singers. Hell I think singers should enjoy some of the same freedoms as solo guitarists. However, I think the notes the singer choosers to sing should be based on what is going on in the song.
