hello guys, I readed in facebook, that Symphony X is working on their next album and will come out in the spring of 2010. but, does anyone know, how will it be called? or what date exactly it will be announced?

thanx!!!

It's going to be entitled "TBA", and it comes out exactly on "Future".

Nah, no one knows anything yet. Keep your eye on the sticky thread up top for updates, that's your best bet to keep informed. Or facebook. Or blabbermouth.

It's gonna be called Symphony X ! Actually they are just re-recording their first with Russell on vocals :o

Not sure if you are aware, but they actually discussed that some years back. We were all looking forward to it... horrible let down that it never happened.

If they do, Shades of Grey needs to be ditched in favor of a non-sucky song.

I'm well aware of that. I was kind of making fun of whoever made the thread, which was kind of pointless.

We knew months in advance about Paradise Lost; what its "theme" was, what it was going to be called, what literary work it was drawing on. This CD, not a PEEP. No idea. Maybe not a theme at all? Maybe just an album full of unrelated tracks? I hope not. It's so cool for the whole album to be cohesive, following some event or some person or some legendary/mythological/historical thing or person. I want to see them do an album themed on horror creatures. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, Frankenstein monsters, mummies, Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde. The torture the creatures go through, their unrelenting drives and hungers.....Russell's voice is sooooooo made for passionate stuff like that. He just rocks like no one else...........

Iced Earth already did that though, and did a pretty good job. I think Symphony X's non-conceptual albums are pretty fucking sweet, so i'm down with pretty much anything they decide to do. Just not a Shades of Grey remake.

I believe Romeo stated that they would rather focus on their new ideas, which is perfectly understandable. Around PL's release, I seem to recall him saying that he wouldn't mind re-recording another s/t song as a bonus track (much like Masquerade). Personally, I think Russ would sound wicked on Thorns of Sorrow.

Some time before PL's release, I seem to recall Romeo saying that Lepond was reading some H. P. Lovecraft and wanted to incorporate it into the music. I think that would be cool for a song or two - I honestly doubt they'll do another concept or themed album.

Only one shitty song and like 2 or 3 lackluster tracks on horror show IMO. Awesome album, last good Iced Earth disc.

Easily my favorite Iced Earth album; songs like Damien and Dracula are amazing. Just curious - which song do you think is shitty?

I'll also agree about post-Horrow Show Iced Earth's decline. I was listening to the latest album (Something Wicked II) the other day, and while it does have Barlow, it just sounds flat. There's no feeling to the vocals or the music; it's as if Barlow just doesn't feel it anymore. I've never been a Ripper fan, but I found Something Wicked I to be a much better album (not that it was great, mind you).

The only reason Barlow doesn't sound full of spirit on Something Wicked II is because he's not the main songwriter. This used to be fine back when Jon was actually capable of being inspired, but I imagine it's hard for Barlow to muster up even the personality that he does when working with such lackluster material.

That said, I dig "I Walk Alone" and "Come What May" is pretty awesome.

All of the above mythical creatures are just as dull as making an album of unrelated tracks.
