Where do you see Opeth in 10 years?

I have to agree with Oyo. I love their music, but in all realism, without a big enough fan base and enough money, they could break up. However, we don't know what could happen in 10 years, so here's wishing them the best.

Deja Vu - I swear I've seen this EXACT thread before - but so? I'll answer anyways--------:)

I'll go with winter-frost : no matter where the band-in-the-flesh is, any (and all) music they've ever (or will ever) put out, will be with me.

yeah this post has been recreated twice now ,, but it's still cool because there is a few new user's ,, i'm soon gonna make a little advertisement for wars of winter here again if it's not too much trouble ,, because I think SOMEBODY freaked out last time I did it ,, anyway

Opeth - 10 - Mikael is going to be recognized somehow by something and he will be respected more and given full apreciation for what he is doing ,, they may not be together anymore ,,, mikael will probably be doing his own project ,, I'd say after 10 years of Opeth pete will have enough and feel that it's time to end it ,,, the two brothers (willl hehe first name brothers,,, they should be brothers) will probably move somewhere together and find a guitarist and play in a non succesful band ,,,,,

Opeth - 15 - Mikael will still be doing his project always featuring different artist to sing/play with him on upcomming albums

Opeth - 20- Mikael or one of the band members gets some form of lung cancer or some cancer and has to have surgery ,, later the band decides to do one last album before quiting, which turns out to be the best thing of there career and this will bring metal back from the dead ,,, ... by then Opeth will be more popular than ever because it doesn't matter what the year Opeth music is not Pop or something like that ,, so it's not just a trend and will continue to open minds up all around the world ( then they will all listen to Wars of WInter and Thales, hehe )

I don't want to sound entirely negative or anything but I'm going to anyway. I fear that Mikeal will die unexpectedly and young. I had a dream where this was a reality. But I don't beleive in dreams. Opeth just seems a little too good to be true.

I think in 10 years Opeth will either break up, or release 1 album every 4 years, and their music will either be totally experimental and completely different to what they're doing now, or (hopefully not) they will fail and begin repeating themselves. But I see Mikael doing various projects until he is too old to pick up the guitar without help !

In 20 years Opeth will become a cult band, a band that people would be proud when they discover it. I don't believe they'll become massively popular - I think the popularity of Blackwater Park in nu-metal circles is temporary.
