Which Opeth lyric is the most hard to understand?

Probably. I know the meanings to most of the songs on Morningrise by now. Orchid's don't make a lot of sense except for a song or two, but at least you can say "Well, he's in a magical forest. And it's cold." BWP's seem extra abstracted besides the couple with clear meanings. Like Bleak. We spent a whole thread and got nothing from it.

I still don't really understand MAYH. I mean, I sort of know the general story, but not in much detail. Someone did a massive write up of it once, I'll have to try and find it.

i think that we lost time trying to find meanings on these songs!

i don't know if you are familiar with beat generation or something like that...

40/50 years they have break the barriers of common meaning in writing a novel.

so opeth lyrics are kind of decadent beat generation style!(what a weird definition)

so..read them listen to sounds and let mind flow!

and remember keep "your heart and mind united in a single perfect sphere"(rush)

:D

What I've got outta Blackwater Park. obviously each song revoles around death......

Bleak - Vampire type song, heard a few theorys.

Dirge - Sucide

Funeral - someone mentioned the "Grim Reaper".... kinda feel thats what it's about.

BWP - Mikes vision of "hell on earth" or how it is today.

I dunno about Leper and Drapery Falls (Ghost?)

you've got to be kidding me...

I like the ideas behind Mikael's lyrics and don't want to sound too critical, but his english is not the greatest. Opeth are one of my favourite bands, and there is no questioning the genius behind the music, but their lyrics (most of them) do absolutely nothing for me. There are songs, and parts of songs, that absolutely blow me away when i listen to them, but the words make no sense in English. That said, he does get it right sometimes. The quality of the music makes everything else seem insignificant any way.

Blackwater Park? I've found my personal meaning after a few spins..

I don't want to sound...ahmm...just forget it ;)
