of all the other ones I've heard, Lightbulb Sun is probably my fave. PT isn't my favorite band by any stretch, but when they're on, they're ON. They can be pretty hit n miss overall IMO, but enjoy them most when they're either heavy or a little more straight-forward pop.

I was liking that song about the death of music on In Absentia, until I realized the chorus does not go like this:

"One of the wonders of the world/
Is going down/
Is going down, I know/
It's one of the wonders of the world/
and noone cares..."

and instead goes like this:

"One of the wonders of the world/
Is going down/
Is going down, I know/
It's one of the blunders of the world/
and noone cares..."

Ugh. Poor, poor choice.

I am an obsessive PT fan. I would suggest getting their albums in reverse chronological order, although Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun are about equal (I would give SD the edge because LS has some short but still light years above the dismal norm pop-freindly songs and SD is a bit more consistent, but LS also has Russia On Ice...) Recordings may consist of leftovers from the two but it is still essential, if only for Buying New Soul and the long version of Even Less. After that, proceed to the more experimental space rock/trance phase of their career...Signify, Sky Moves Sideways, and Up The Downstair are all excellent albums.
