I have the pleasure of being a personal friend of a Norwegian shredder called Jarle H. Olsen, who probably is one of Yngwies` biggest fans. According to him, Yngwie`s been doing coke since the mid-80`s and his playing has suffered a lot from it.

Yeah, that`s true, but you really can`t dispute that Yngwie simply isn`t the player he used to be. Just compare his playing on War to End all Wars with Rising Force or Trilogy, it`s quite hard not to notice.

I throw in a vote for Romeo, especially these days. He is much better technically in lead techniques, dominates him in rhythm, and he is a better songwriter. Yngwie had some great moments like Far Beyond the Sun, but he has really gone downhill in the past years. If the drug accusations are true that is a real shame, especially now that Yngwie is a father and husband. Pathetic.

for the record, Yngwie rarely ever uses 6 string sweeps. Most of his stuff is 3 string, sometimes 5 string. I hardly ever see Romeo use 3 string, usually he uses 5 string sweeps.

Becker was the master of sweeping IMO.

Anyway...I like Romeo better than Yngwie, but Yngwie rocks too.
