finally got around to getting some of their stuff, only heard 2 songs so far but they are awesome! is this what real black metal is like?

That doesn't mean there aren't other great BM bands out there. There is a lot of good BM out there, you just have to know where to look.

Ahh, very cool. That's good to hear that you like the stuff from that album. That means you'll like probably like all their stuff. Some people have a problem with the production quality of their earlier work and can't look past it. Nightside and Anthems are two of my favorite albums of all time. Definitely check out Anthems next!

I never got to see them live either because back when they came around the U.S. I hadn't checked them out yet.
A reunion though... I'd probably catch atleast 5 of the shows if that ever happened. I'd fly to Europe if I had to.

Maybe I'll try again, it's been a while since the first time I heard the first two albums. I love the rest of their stuff though. Am I the only one whose favorite Emperor album is Prometheus?

Sure I can see how someone has a problem with In The Nightside Eclipse's production, but what is wrong with Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk?
Emperor is an awesome band, they weren't the first band that I heard in black metal but Anthems is probably one of the reasons why a majority of everything I listen to today is black metal. In the end though In The Nightside Eclipse is my favorite.
