Who's going to watch the debate tonight?

My favorite was "You banned Reading Books Application"

This election is beyond saving for the Republicans. Even when they put out a relatively strong showing, it all just backfires and turns into a gigantic joke fest. It's getting progressively more and more comical and even sitcom-esque every four years for the Republican Party. They still haven't learned that just because they don't know how to use the internet, it doesn't mean that the rest of the world is equally retarded.

I think they actually think the American people are sheep in this day and age. I mean, we've been pretty blind in the past but I'd like to think we've woken up...I mean, Bush and the last 8 years was a pret-ty strong wake-up call.

it says that the democratic party has been, by and large, a bunch of pussies for the past decade.

to a degree, it's inherent in the competing philosophies. american liberalism is just downright more open to new ideas and skepticism than modern conservatism, and that is a weakness in knock-down, drag-out political brawls. admitting the possibility that you could be wrong is the right thing to do (and far preferable to refusing to doubt yourself when you are, in fact, fucking wrong), but when the voting populace judges as much on animal instinct and hearsay as on policy (probably moreso, in fact), then the reasonable, cautious skeptic is at a weakness compared to the bellicose crusader.

EDITING IN i forgot to mention that even by those long-running standards the latest crop of democrats has been seriously easily cowed.

things are looking different this time, though - or at least different by enough percentage points to tip the balance.

thats what i was trying to get him to admit heh

i am a registered democrat btw, but i think im going to switch to independent or something. im sick of all these shmuckos, its time to start throwing my vote away on 3rd party candidates that i actually like.

man don't do that this is the first time in years we've seriously had a candidate who's worth giving a shit about. the most important thing about obama is that he understands that COMPLEX ISSUES REQUIRE COMPLEX SOLUTIONS. sure his speeches are full of soundbites and pithy phrases, but when he gives actual policy descriptions and discusses social issues, he addresses the problems for what they are - multi-faceted, difficult, and not solved by grand sweeping declarations of intent. after the past eight years, a president who's not afraid to be an intellectual is exactly what we need.

I have to admit... While UK politics is pretty damn shit. The main difference I see is that when our Prime Minister candidates are talking, they don't seem like total fucking morons.

seriously guys just going AMERICA IS FULL OF STUPID isn't going to do anything except make us feel a little better. if we want to win this election and more elections to come we have to make the country understand which party is fighting for their best interests; which country is, as slick willie memorably put it, "on the right side of history."

sorry for being argumentative, i realize this is exactly the perfect place to blow off that kind of steam. i just want to make it clear, it's not gonna be enough.

He did a lot for the economy by short-changing us in the military, but that's not news as presidents have been doing that for decades. The military didn't like him, but so what? We didn't have to like him, just obey him.

He was more of an embarrassment due to his personal life, not his professional. Bush has been an embarrassment pretty much all around.
