who's switching to snow leopard?

There's a 5-license disk for $50. I went in with a few friends on it.

I believe so - I didn't look to deeply but there usually is a 'customize' option. At worst just do a Leopard install and then the quick upgrade to SL right away.

I ordered Snow Leopard and Logic Studio 9 a few days ago. Should arrive next week, i'll tell you if it's working fine.

this is definatly a marketing stratagy (at least in part), to sell more new macs.

It's just natural for technology to move along. G5's are horrible computers when compared to the latest quadcores and i7 based machines!

Also it's a bad idea to upgrade your OS; always do a fresh install of an OS, and then migrate your stuff over from a backup disk image using the migration wizard that OSX has.

Im using my girl as a lab rat ....she just ordered it when we get it ill throw a little post up about it...plus it will probably be a little bit before pro tools 8 is compatible with it so im sticking with 10.5 for now

Stillwell Audio plugins will fail validation in Logic 9 after you upgrade to Snow Leopard. I use Time Machine so it was easy enough to revert back to Leopard, but if you use these plugs a lot I'd recommend staying with Leopard until they update the plugins

would be pretty useful to know which plugins etc are causing problems from those who have updated so the rest of us can be prepared. i read on GS that you just need to reactivate the stillwell plugs and they'll be fine.

I tried that and they worked for a little while and then failed again. I'll wait til there is a plugin upgrade, although Snow Leopard was definitely faster, especially Safari
