who's switching to snow leopard?

Goddamn, after so many crashed sessions in Logic I've switched back to Leopard. I'm not sure what happened but I couldn't even get Logic to play back audio without crashing after my most recent session. I'd load up a session, hit play, insta-crash.

Profire 2626, PT M-Powered 8 and a bunch of plugs all working flawlessly in Snow leopard here. Didn't even DL the prerelease, just using 8.01.

Logic on the other hand... I honestly feel like switching to Leopard anyways just to be safe but my MBP came with SL preinstalled :/

Dude, I'm so glad to hear that. My shiny, new iMac is on it's way from Shanghai, and I'm really hoping that setup works without major problems here, too. I'd hate to go through the hassle of getting a copy of Leopard to be able to work :/

Allthough i never had problems with Snow Leopard, i fucking hate it ;)
Apparently, the RME Fireface 800 has a big bunch of problems with SL. Gheeey, because i have the money for it right now, and i was waiting for this moment about a year  damn it.
I would kill myself if i got it and the fireface wouldn't work. Siighh...

It was such a pain in the ass to revert back. The version of Leopard it installs is so old you have to download 1GB of updates before you can install anything. My iPhone wouldn't sync, Logic wouldn't install, Aperture wouldn't install, ugh. I keep Time Machine since I am running a RAID config as my OS drive but my oldest backup was on SL after I switched.

Mine worked fine before I went back to Leopard (for other reasons).

Good to hear. I will try to lend a fireface tomorrow, there are some more problems with the Firewire chips on some iMacs and MacBook Pros, so...
The RME forum is pretty crowded since SL, u can't turn it on when you want, but just before you start the mac or anything will freeze, you get clicks and pops, you get a kernel panic when listening to music and logic being opened at a time, etc etc... :ill:
And one big reason for the FF800 were it's reliable drivers

When my MBP had a OS problem I had to install it from scratch, so I decided to install Snow Leopard. After a week I returned to Leopard, my main problem was that SL didn't recognize my MBox Pro. I tried to solve the problem for a week but with no success. Also there are some applications/plug-ins that aren't compatible yet.
I'll wait until most people are working ok with SL to upgrade for it.

Update, doesn't look like Snow Leopard is a big fan of Structure in LE. Bummer.

yikes.
got a new 13" macbook on its way, and would dearly love if pro tools would start fucking working with it....
although in fairnesss; how long did it take them to get over to leopard! ive only just upgraded a few months ago!

So far so good with cubase studio 5 and pro tool LE 8.0.3

What has really surprised me is that line 6 drivers are working (a lot of people are complaining on the forums about l6 drivers). I did a full backup of everything right before I installed snow leopard so going back shouldn't be an issue if I need to. I have not had a chance to load all plug ins yet to see how that goes. Non of my wrapped plugs work in pro tools but I'm not that concerned ATM.

I have it installed on my laptop that I use for tracking, but on my desktop when I start adding plugins when I'm mixing it just crashes Logic constantly. My laptop has no issues though and both my Mbox1 and MOTU are recognized by SL/Logic.

My MacBook Pro, which has been running Snow Leopard since the DVD came in the mail the week of the release, was running fine until today. Apple Mail's database on my hard drive is now corrupt - I've possibly lost a ton of email that I need (unless I can manually recover it from the internal SQLite database), and sound with the MacBook's native sound card has stopped working suddenly. Literally no sound even from iTunes, volume keys, etc.

Nuking and paving as we speak...
