Why do you guys ,in general, not like greenback cabs?

I currently have 3 4x12 cabs one V30, one greenback, and one with 75's. The greenies are BY far the most articulate of the three, very pronounced. Surpisingly better than the 75's IMHO. Just wondering why the metal crowd shies from them?

Don't remember seeing anybody saying bad things about them here (but I don't read every post of course). V30 are more popular but I'm guessing this is a good second option.

to me, they sound old school. Like 70's rock.....a real thin crunch to it. And alot of breakup.

right on, I dont remember anybody trash-talking them, they just seem to be a go-to for rock and not so much for metal.

I was very surprised how much they made my jcm800 cab with the 75's sound like ass, the difference was not subtle

I haven't had much experience with them, but I really dug them when I used them. Seemed more smooth and less peaky in the high mids than V30s (not saying they're better or worse, just that I liked them).

early break up, lower wattage (thus early break up, again), and thin tone is what comes to mind when I hear them...Just never got into 'em.

greenbacks are my personal favourites (1960 TV cab) i think they have more "roar" than vintage 30's, they do sound a bit darker but the trebble is a bit less smooth to my ears. ofcourse v30's are great too...

When I record my band I'll be torn between my H&K cab loaded with G12s, and my 5150 cab. I think the greenbacks are going to be the better option...

here's what happened when I got the greenback cab

I lined up all three

plugged into the cab with the 75's *hits chord* "cool"

plugged into the cab with the V30's *hits chord* "kick ass"

plugged into the cab with the greenbacks *hits chord* "HOLY FUCKIN SHIT"

In fact, I heard a framus cobra and matching 4x12 w/ greenies and it was horrible! Way too buzzy......but then again, I think the guitarist had the gain up a little too much. And I hear the Dragon is better anyways.

The Dragon cab is indeed awesome. both guitar players in my band use dragon cabs.
