Why do you guys ,in general, not like greenback cabs?

I have a Carvin Legacy cab with four greenbacks in it. Thinking of replacing one or two of the with a V30, for recording purposes. Question: is it ok to replace just one, as long as the impedance match?

Yes, but it might be quieter/louder than the others, by a couple db.

In fact, I heard a framus cobra and matching 4x12 w/ greenies and it was horrible! Way too buzzy......but then again, I think the guitarist had the gain up a little too much. And I hear the Dragon is better anyways.

yeah, the dragon cabs are loaded with v30s, but the head is a little undergained for my liking.
When we sorted out our endorsement we asked for the Cobra setup - Heads and Cabs, but to make the cabs dragon spec. So they look like sex and sound pretty damn fine also. the notch switch and the gain stage on the Cobra made things swing that direction.

The greenbacks were good, but they broke up too much and really didn't seem to deal with our stupid tuning (G#)...

That's ok.

Oh god, I'm so drunk... played with a coverband this evening, at Heartbreak Hotel here in Gävle where I live. Bon jovi, europe, scorpions, whitesnake, dio, thin lizzy et.c..... I had a great time haha.... played the bass although I'm a guitarist. But bass is much more fun than guitar.

There are some speaker samples that Andy has done here (they have been posted in other threads I know, but seemed kind of revelant here):

http://andysneap.com/media/speakers/

I think the amp was 5150.

On a side note, I am looking at getting another 4X12 that I can leave where we jam (saves me carting around the Mesa Traditional that doesn't fit in my car because of the LPG tank and I want to use it at home for recording). I am looking at the Marshall 1960A with G12T-75's or the 1960AV (with V30's), but since the Mesa already has V30's I am thinking of the G12T-75's for some variation. Head is Krank Revolution.

Opinions/experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check out Carvin Legacy cabs - you can take the red stuff off so it looks less Vai, but they're great cabs and built tough as hell. The grillplate makes things really easy to position, and the cabs are cheap, too!
