Hey, speaker of tr00 English, do you still pronounce the "kn" in knight? And does the "ight" sound like "eat"? No? Well, hold on a second, that's what it originally was. Wait, are you telling me that languages change over the years? This just in, Spanish, French and Italian all started out as Latin. They changed over the years to become different languages. One day perhaps there'll be British and American languages. Until then, you speak your way and I'll speak mine.

Yes, well, all languages originated from Swedish, so don´t come dragging that bullshit in here. Shut up! I´m right.

Navajo and Sioux are American languages.

English is the language of the English, who live in Britain. Maybe they have a sligthly stronger argument when it comes to which is the correct spelling; the people who's native tongue it is, or the largely non-english population who have adopted it?

Navajo and Sioux are about as extinct as Latin. If we want to be technically correct, then yes they are American languages. My point is that the primary language spoken in America will probably one day be considered a different language. No one has a stronger point about what form of English is better. Languages are constantly changing and some Briton nick-picking at American spelling isn't going to have any effect on it. Languages are meant to convey your thoughts and ideas. Adding "L's" and "u's" in doesn't make it anymore effective. Your language isn't anymoe correct than ours. It's like saying Spanish isn't correct because it started out as Latin and now it's different. When I live in Britain, I'll consider what dialect I use. As of right now, my spelling is academically accepted by my fellow citizens. This is board exists on the WORLD wide web not the British Wide Web. Thus, I'll speak in the dialect I choose to, so long as it is comprehendable to most.

yes. spanish, according to recent statistics. :p
however, i agree with the fact that no one has a stronger point about what form of english is better. british english and american english are two separate languages and it doesn't really matter that much anymore that the latter "derived" from or started later than the former: they have both acquired legitimate status since large parts of the population do adopt one or the other. the fact that as of now they're mutually understandable does not imply any hierarchy in itself.
on the other hand, steve112sms, my guess is sentience_withers and u[sic]m were being at least partly ironic. ;)
