Will Angra tour the USA?

That must be weird for a band of the caliber as Angra to play for 100 people. Look at their concerts in Brazil, then they come here and play to 100. Crazy for the bandmembers - and it's gotta be hard to justify another tour after numbers so low

They played to ~40 people when they came to Cleveland that tour. One of the top 5 shows I've seen too...

It didn't help that there was 0 promotion, and it was in this shitty little venue about 30-45 minutes outside the city in the middle of bum fuck nowhere.

I agree, it must be strange. Places like Japan, Italy, Brazil, etc. produce stellar crowds for them, and then to do a string of shows in the US and have less than 100 on average must be a blow.

The problem with the last "tour" was there was no promotion. I saw them in NC with 12 people. I found out it 2 days before. No one promoted it. Of course, they did it somewhat ad hoc and last minute. If they do it with enough advance and promote, hopefully they'd get a better turnout.

Just curious, did the band acknowledge the low number at all on stage? Like did they make jokes like "Glad to see 10 of you here tonight!" or something like that. Did the band take it in good stride, or did they seem reluctant to perform a full night worth of material?

Just wondering - I've never been to a concert with so low a crowd

They were very good troopers, very professional, and some of the nicest musicians (and people) I've evern met. I actually wrote up a little thing about my experience here.

I've been to shows with low turnouts like that - but they were all local, cover, bar band shows. Never seen a professional band like that, so it was an experience for me too!

I once saw Seven Witches at the Cricket Club in Irvington, NJ. Exit To Eternity and Zandelle opened the show. Raven was on the bill too and they pulled out during the show. But there were 15 or 20 people there and thats it. Even with a classic band like Raven on the bill going into the show it did not attract any extra fans.

I saw XYZ back in January and there were no more than 50 people in the entire venue.

Yeah, XYZ played in VA not too long ago to a crowd almost as thin. My band played with Seven Witches not too long ago also, and there were about 200 people there tops, most of which came for the local bands.

Its weird how people decide to go to shows or not. You'd think it would be as easy as having a band they like playing on a Saturday night bringing them out, but people are funny creatures to understand.

Most people don't want to go to the Cricket Club anyway because they are scared to death to go into that neighborhood.

LOL yeah and then? Its XYZ, hello? They haven't really ever did anything? I think they would be happy to have 50 people at any show :loco:

It's a shitty neighborhood but it is right off the parkway and when you're leaving it's two minutes tops before you are back on the parkway. I have learned to deal with that neighborhood though. I live in Union so I just take the backroads in... keep my doors locked and don't look at anyone.

Though they kicked ass when I caught them in Aurora, I think there were 100 people in attendance, tops. It's a shame that nobody knows them in this country. However, they could do really well as an opening act on a bill with a band like Symphony X or Stratovarius. Seeing as how Stratovarius is planning on doing a U.S. tour in September, it would be great to see Angra jump onto the bill.

Stay metal. Never rust.

100? At the Riley's Rockhouse??? (Or whatever the name is...I remember when it was Malos) I remember the weather not being really great that night, and I don't remember there being more than 50 people there.
It was more packed for Symphony X.......
Still, the Angra guys put on a great show.....

This from Thom Youngblood, of Kamelot, about a possible North American tour:

"We’re talking to SPV to have their ears open and we’ve been talking to different bands that are coming over in September. I think everybody is waiting to see what happens when the record comes out and see how things go. Of course, we’ve been trying to set up a U.S. tour for two or three years now and there’s always these obstacles about the size of the band in the US, the funding, and things like that; so we’re always trying to look for opportunities here as well as other countries. But I think I have a good feeling about this year and about being able to tour, so let’s see what happens. We’re talking to the management with Angra about doing a co-headline with them and the guys from Stratovarius talked to us a little about that, but you know, we’re keeping our ears open for the best opportunity and for the best package for the fans, that’s the most important thing.

It’s kinda weird; our singer is from Norway and we haven’t toured there. We’re from the U.S. and we haven’t toured in the U.S., so I think it’s time to do that."

I should (hopefully) be able to offically say what Angra will be doing in a week or two...

Do you realize that Antonio (Angra's manager) has no clue who you are or what authority you have to be making these claims? You had better clarify things with your "source" before you piss him off further.

There seems to be some confusion and misunderstandings here. I'll clear things up soon.

I simply posted tha because there has been a lot of speculation and rumor about Angra touring on the Net (and in this thread - including the above post from Kamelot) but no official word as of yet. It was a "gentle reminder" that there is no official announcement yet.

Sorry if it caused any problems.

You stated you knew about Angra before I went public.
You started a thread on the Symphony X forum about assisting with booking a potential tour for them.
Your post in this thread can be easily misread that you are making an official announcement yourself once given the confirmation.

Combine all of the above and you have an upset Angra manager (and a miffed ProgPower promoter at certain things that you are not aware of regarding my deal with Angra).

Just be a tad more careful in the future.

cheers,

Glenn
