Wolves in the Throne Room in Brooklyn 10/19/07

When I saw moonspell a few years back, there were these chicks dressed in trash bags there, dancing during moonspells set. They were hot too.

I was amused.

@JK ... the lineup was really mixed ... the CMJ music marathon is on for a few weeks in NY so all venues have weird lineups ... Witchcraft played in Manhattan the night before for example.
But it was great to see the more normal folk wig out and head back to another room as Wolves went into blast beats

dude, your hot POA chick from Heathen Crusade was there also ... the one that posted on this forum a few times as well ...

 ... free show sponsored by SCION!

Ok Jerry ... have at it ... and you MUST go this show!

I RSVP'd and am confirmed ... ... you can have my spot if you sign up too late

In February Southern Lord will proudly release the vinyl only version of the new Wolves In The Throne Room EP entitled Malevolent Grain, featuring two brand new tracks from the Pacific Northwest organic black metallers. Conspiracy Records will offer a limited edition picture disc of the 12″ for Europe, while Southern Lord will release a black 180-gram version worldwide. Additionally the band will press a limited CD version for tour purposes only. The EP features the band’s newly designed logo crafted by renowned artist Christophe Szpajdel, designer of black metal band logos for Kult Ov Azazel, Emperor, Moonspell and other international acts.

The third WITTR full-length Black Cascade will follow, to be released on March 31st on Southern Lord Records. More info will follow soon on this wholly organic black-drone masterwork. Both the EP and the full-length were recorded to 2-inch tape by Randall Dunn and Mell Dettmer in Seattle this Winter. The new recordings are the first to feature their new guitar player Will Lindsay (Middian) who had previously served as the band’s touring bass player, in addition to longtime members, brothers Nathan and Aaron Weaver.

The band will tour Europe beginning in late January, along with three select coffeehouses* in the US. More extensive touring through 2009 is also imminent. In addition to the new EP, other new merch for this tour includes a Live At Roadburn 2008 12″ record, which also includes a DVD and is being released by Burning World Records.

how the fuck do you package an LP with a DVD??? ... what VHS is not good enough for these posturing nincampoops??

hahahaha soon these guys will graduate from high school and we will no longer have to hear about them

Listened to this. Think I can finally give up on them. The first track is a slowly trotting "ambient black metal" radio hit, the entire vocal track done by either a female vocalist that doesn't fit with the track at all or one of the members trying to spout out some lines while his partner dances in his asshole. The song trots along, about 10 minutes too long, ending on 3 minute long fade out "heavily inspired" by Agalloch's AATG closer. I guess the idea floating around their camp was "it worked for them, it'll work for us". The second track is where shit really hits the fan. Did someone at southern lord accidentally place an outtake from Angantyr's Haevn on side B? From the riffing, to the vocal style, to the way the drumming trots along... seriously.

It's good for a laugh at the most. Fucking USBM.

Face it people, no one needed WITTR to release any new material after 2 Huntaz. Them least of all. My only hope is that they still deliver unforgettable live shows, as rumor says they do, cause I'm gonna see them next week.
