Possibly in this scenario with my ex of the last 3 years. we will see how that goes.

I think the fact that you actually talked about it is because it was on your mind, maybe just 1% but it was there. one or both of you thought about it and may have even imagined it !

Most of my best female friends were chiks I wanted to date XD but then rejected me XD hahaha! It's a pain in the ass to get in that "friend zone". And in my case it sometimes WAAYY to friend zone, to the point that i can watch them change clothes and or talk about sexual themes BUT DON'T TOUCH!!! Some of my friends told me many times: dude she's totaly into you shes just making this so you make the first step. but BULLSHIT! hahah every fucking time I got rejected XD Just the chiks I really don't care much about want with me. It's the typical the better you treat them the less they wan't to be with you. They like to be treated like ass XD!

Yeah, got a couple of female friends. Got 2 that I can share everything with, and it's just genuine good time together. Known them now for about 5/6 years, and since then the connection was really good. Never had intentions getting in their pants. I actually know my wife shorter than I know them. Still regularly meet and chat up, we sms and call just to keep eachother up-to-date. Wife doesn't have problem with it, no jaleousy invovled, that's what I told her from the get go; "this is the way it is, there's nothing more, no reason to be jaleous".

That aside, I fit in the 'Yes and still do' category. My best friend from the late teen years that I had a bit of a thing for. Always got mixed signals from her so I abandoned that endeavor and just treat her like a good mate with a great pair of tits. Girlfriend doesn't mind in the slightest since she's pretty friendly with her as well (and because her tits are superior, of course! ) so that's a huge bonus.

i am not a "best friends" person, for me friends are people i can go out with,
but also talk about serious stuff, or just hang out sometimes.
it is not dependent on the gender.
it is also not really necessary to do all this things with one single person

i used to have quite a few female "friends" especially during my school time,
but there was always this sexual tension, not from my side...at least in most of the cases
so basically it never really worked...luckily...having a close friendship to a woman
is just fucking exhausting. it's basically like having a girlfriend you are not allowed to bang...pretty useless IMHO

additional to this comes the "mixed signals" thing that was mentioned before, which makes a big mess out of every man/woman friendship.
